Walking South to North: Skye Trail

written on 22 may 2025 and sent as a newsletter

In april I went on a hiking trip to Isle of Skye, Scotland. Me and my partner hiked 130km of the Skye trail, walking from south to north. I'm not someone that brings a sketchbook along, although I've carried a lot of unused ones with me over the years. I do love making photographs of our trip though and when I came back I even felt like drawing landscapes.

I liked drawing the same subjects a few times, making small and large alterations. I'm even thinking of getting a field easel to start painting plein air. It's nice not to overthink what I'm painting too much.

Drawing what's easy
Since I'm still not feeling like painting big things, I take comfort in drawing small things right now. For this month's patreon lesson I decided to focus on model drawings again. It's been such a long time, but I felt right at home when I picked up the brush.
