Online course | Painting with Mixed Media
What’s this course about?
This course is for anyone who wants to explore mixed media without feeling overwhelmed. I’ll show you the tools I use, how to combine them, how to make art that feels playful and intuitive and how to embrace your work in progress as if it’s the finished artwork.
All the video lessons are pre-recorded, so you can finish it on your own pace. You’ll have access for the lifetime of this course via a private password protected website.
This course consists of 10 video lessons of 1 hour in total and includes a 29 page written guide.

The materials we’ll use in this course
If you’re watching this course to see what’s possible with mixed media, you won’t need any of these materials. If you’re joining to paint along you’ll at least need acrylic paints, coloured pencils and oil pastels. We’re painting on paper, but a sketchbook with thick paper is also works.
Materials you don’t necessarily need but will be used for demonstrations: markers, acrylic ink, ink and paint markers.
I talk you through the differences in quality and what materials to invest in, in one of the lessons.
Yes, sign me up!
This course will open for the first time in september.
Everyone learns in their own way
Which is why I’ve taken the utmost care of creating a written guide to go along this course.
It’s 29 pages long and includes 11 chapters, just like the video lessons.
You’ll be able to download it as a PDF the moment you complete your purchase. You could even print it if you want to.
I go more in depth on certain topics and show different brush strokes, types of brushes and the step-by-step process of how to mix & match your materials.
Hi, it’s me!
The courses are taught by me, Roxy van Bemmel. I have been working as an independent artist for seven years, after graduating from ArtEZ in Fashion Design in 2017.
I have six years of teaching experience at a variety of schools, from vocational (MBO) and higher professional education (HBO) institutions to private courses in illustration and fashion. From 2024 I also teach from my own art studio in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Thanks to the diversity of students I have had the pleasure of meeting, I can quickly get to the heart of what you really need.
I believe in creating a lot and also in making ugly things to progress quickly. If you want to get rid of your perfectionism, you’re at the right address!

That link goes to a private password protected page on my own website. That way you’ll have all the lessons in one nice space. It even saves your progress!
