The workshop
One of the most common questions I get is, "Where do you find your inspiration, and how do you know what you want to paint?" This workshop answers exactly that question, as we’ll come up with our own model!
In this 2.5-hour workshop, we’ll explore which ‘imaginary friends’ are hiding in our subconscious and paint and draw them on paper. I’ll teach you how to warm up for a creative session, how to start a piece on paper using mixed media, and how to push through when you're in the ‘ugly’ phase of a painting.
Please note: This is not a superrealistic portrait drawing workshop. I’ll teach you the basic proportions of a face to use as a guide, but we leave perfectionism outside the studio. This is a workshop where you’ll learn to paint/draw in your own style, whether that nose is in the center or somewhere on the side ;-)
Beginner friendly
No previous drawing experience is required for this workshop, but if you do have experience and are looking for extra motivation to create in a creative environment, you are more than welcome!
The workshops take place in my art studio in Utrecht, so a creative setting is guaranteed!

The workshops are in Dutch, so if you understand Dutch that’s great! If you don’t, I’m happy to translate for you. Just be a little more patient. Plus, in my experience whenever someone in the group doesn’t understand English, the Dutch participants are happy to talk English with you.
If you book a group/private workshop I’m happy to do it in English of course.

My studio is at a 20 minute walking distance from Utrecht central or you can reach it by bus from there. There’s a (paid) parking garage next to the building.

My cancellation policy is as follows:
Up to 14 days: 100% refund
14-7 days: 50% refund
7-0 days: 0% refund
Since I purchase materials based on the number of participants and cannot guarantee that I’ll be able to fill your spot, I need to maintain a specific cancellation policy. Thank you for your understanding!

A few days before the workshop starts, you will always receive an email from me with an overview of where to go and my phone number in case anything last minute comes up. It will also say whether you need to bring your own materials, though usually this is not necessary.

Of course, I love beginners! Of course! All workshops (unless otherwise specified) are for all skill levels, even if you've never held a pencil before. I'll guide you through the workshop with various exercises so you can create something beautiful even without experience. Plus, it's all about embracing the work-in-progress :-)

No! Every month is different. I try to organize at least one workshop each month, so make sure to keep an eye on the schedule or subscribe to the newsletter.
If you want to take a specific workshop that’s no longer available, feel free to contact me for a private session.

Sometimes I teach through other organisations that offer cheaper workshops and I’ll promote those via my social media. Considering material and studio costs this is the best price I can offer on my personal workshops. In the future I’d like to offer community tickets if a workshop sells out (I’ve been in your situation!), but not yet for this one.
